what means ‘abastor’?
fried grasshoppers…wow. i like to think i’d have gone for it. for the story, later. i ate an oyster once, after all!
I thought I would go for it too, seriously!, but when it came time, they just looked so slimy and grasshopperish that I couldn´t although I kept trying and the woman holding the basket was very patient. Fernando braved a pinch and loved them. I could never make it on Fear Factor.
I am not sure what Abastos means. The entire market area is called Abastos.
They are actually pretty gross. Unlike your website, which I love, and have passed out the address to many a friend. Fried grasshoppers? Good friends are better.
ah-ha: mercado de abastos = wholesale market, methinks
from wordreference.com:
abasto m (usu pl) abastos, provisions pl, supplies pl
mercado de abastos, wholesale food market ♦ LOC: familiar no dar abasto, not to be able to have a rest o not to be able to cope: en Navidades las bodegas no dan abasto, the wine shops can’t cope at Christmas
the grasshoppers were ALIVE??? F got pinched??? holy cow, retract, retract! i would definitely NOT eat one of those things.
Thanks for saving me from looking up the definition for abastos.
Whoops… no, the grasshoppers were dead, fried, and covered in chile and lime. F had a pinch from the basket, just a few small ones.
Kesa, do your good friends taste good covered in chile and lime
?
